One female mouse can have up to 8 litters per year, 5 to 6 mice per litter. That's a total of 45 mice from one female mouse per year. But also, her litter will become sexually mature at six weeks old, which can result in 800+ offspring in a year from a single mouse.
One female rat can have up to 6 litters per year, 8 to 10 per litter. That's a total of 60 rats from one female per year. But also her litter of approx. 8 to 10 will become sexually mature at 2 to 3 months of age. This can result in 1000+ offspring in a year from one rat.
Keeping on top of rodents in your roof space isn't a once a year task. For best results, you should be laying new traps at regular intervals.
